A Bad Texas Two Step

The Dallas Mavericks have started the season on the wrong foot against both of their Texas Rivals. After a loss against San Antonio on Thursday night, the Mavericks got whipped by the Houston Rockets. The Mavericks owned the Rockets last season when they won all four games against them. They shot poorly this time and never found a way to shut down Yao, who sank 12 of 16 shots and went 12-for-12 from the stripe. The Mavs couldn't recover from the Rockets' opening 12-0 run. The Mavs' sloppy play basically dug the Mavericks into an early hole. In a strong Western Conference, these two loses could determine the playoff positions at the end of the season. The Mavericks better wake up before they are left behind. Dallas is 0-2 for the first time since the 1993-94 season.
